sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the

receipt of Your Fonour'a letter of the 25th, inotant and to

inform you that I am sending a copy of it to the Secretary of

stato.

2.

I ugod the expression "thoroughly com-

-potent" in reference to the question of the Puisne Judge

taking a sharo in Original Work because I know that the

Original Work in the Suprone Court consists for the most part

in chaos of importance involving considerable logues. I ro-

-cornise that not evory Puisno Judge might be considered com-

-patont by the Chier Justice to take a sharo in the work.

The opinion I are expressed as to the

possibility of the Puiano Judge sharing in such work is only

the opinion of a layaan with no experiorce of the Cours work,

and I have no doubt that the Secretary of State will attach

duo woight so the contrary opinion expressed by Your Vonour.

I have the honour to bo,

Sir,

Your Honour's most

obedient servant,

AFA A F Amay

Officer Ad inistering the Govern-

-ment.

Honour

CHIER JUGTICE.
